What is the Headway app? Blinkist Valuation
When examining a tool or service, many people right away jump into what they like and do not like. That’s a mistake, particularly when taking a look at among numerous services in a particular category. In this case, book summaries. Blinkist Valuation
The concept of a book summary itself has some particular benefits and drawbacks. Naturally, these will move to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t actually blame a specific business for them.
Let’s first take a look at those, so we can better pinpoint the distinct advantages and disadvantages of Blinkist later on.
Pros of reading book summaries:.
You’ll avoid all unneeded details. This is particularly useful for books that only make one or a couple of assets. It also helps you avoid poor books entirely.
You can discover more and different topics much faster. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can read a summary in a few minutes. You can leap to the next mindfulness book or a new topic altogether.
You’ll likely remember more without keeping in mind. Since book summaries focus around truths and short ways to show them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. It’s hard to properly remember anything if you read a full book without taking notes.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, because it makes reading fun. Depending upon how much you connect with the story, it also helps you remember a lot, even if you may need to take notes.
You will lose out on big ideas and spontaneous insights from truly great books. The very best books hit hard with every page. It’s impossible to move all of their knowledge into a summary. Some books you just need to check out completely to get the most out of them.
Due to an absence of context, you might interpret truths the wrong way. In some cases, a summary specifies an idea one method, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. Because that context is now missing out on, you’re translating the concept in a different way and hence get an impression the author didn’t want you to have.
You are now relying on not simply the author of the book, but also whoever composed the summary. You lose if the summary author does a bad task. They may stop working to consist of an essential story and so you will not remember a crucial reality.
Again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that offer them. So with those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.
How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?
Downloading the app is totally free. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll get a brief tutorial of how everything works.
Among the first things you’ll notice is that the app only has three tabs for you to choose from:.
Discover. This is where you can explore their library and discover brand-new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your individual selection of books.
You. This is where your settings and conserved highlights are.
This is brilliant, because it makes selecting and navigating the app what to do truly simple. Let’s look at the individual tabs.
Blinkist extremely greatly promoted at me, so I chose to try. Blinkist is an app that has many functions, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original content, but the primary selling point, the thing that they promote, the thing that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can provide you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Basically, they are promoting themselves as an alternative to reading books or listening to complete audio books by, and I quote here from their site: “Listen or check out to the essential concepts from best-selling nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the idea is that you get their app, you sign up for it, and you can listen to as numerous books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the key ideas and an understanding of what the book is about.
I was suspicious, I am a reader and even though I don’t check out much non-fiction, considering that I much prefer reading fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw advertised on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I simply could not envision being condensable into 15 minutes. Because we are talking about some truly big books, about heavy, complicated ideas that I simply didn’t believe you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I have actually got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to set up that. Blinkist Valuation
