The concept of a book summary itself has some specific advantages and disadvantages. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t truly blame a particular business for them.

Let’s very first look at those, so we can much better pinpoint the unique pros and cons of Blinkist later on.

Pros of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unnecessary info. This is particularly useful for books that just make one or a couple of good points. It likewise assists you avoid poor books completely.
You can find out about more and different subjects much faster. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a few minutes. Then, you can leap to the next mindfulness book or a new topic entirely.
You’ll likely keep in mind more without taking notes. Given that book summaries center around realities and brief methods to show them, you’ll likely come away from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll keep in mind. If you read a complete book without keeping in mind, it’s hard to correctly memorize anything.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, because it makes reading enjoyable. Depending on how much you get in touch with the story, it likewise helps you remember a lot, even if you may need to remember.
The finest books strike hard with every page. Some books you simply have to check out in complete to get the most out of them.
Due to an absence of context, you may analyze facts the wrong way. In some cases, a summary states an idea one method, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. But because that context is now missing, you’re interpreting the idea in a different way and therefore get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now relying on not simply the author of the book, however also whoever composed the summary. If the summary author does a bad job, you lose. For instance, they may stop working to consist of an important story and so you will not remember a vital truth.

Once again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that supply them. With those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to utilize the Blinkist app?

This is dazzling, because it makes choosing and browsing the app what to do actually easy. Let’s look at the individual tabs.

Blinkist really heavily advertised at me, so I decided to try. Blinkist is an app that has lots of features, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original content, but the primary selling point, the important things that they promote, the important things that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they declare they can offer you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Basically, they are promoting themselves as an alternative to checking out books or listening to complete audio books by, and I quote here from their website: “Read or listen to the crucial concepts from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the concept is that you get their app, you register for it, and you can listen to as many books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they claim that you will still get the key concepts and an understanding of what the book has to do with.

I was suspicious, I am a reader and even though I do not read much non-fiction, since I much choose reading fiction, I do check out some of it, some of the books that I saw advertised on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just could not envision being condensable into 15 minutes. Because we are talking about some really huge books, about heavy, complex concepts that I simply didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I’ve got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to set up that. Blinkist Will College Pay Off
