What is the Headway app? Crucial Conversations Summary On Blinkist

When reviewing a tool or service, many people right away jump into what they like and don’t like. That’s a mistake, specifically when taking a look at among numerous services in a particular category. In this case, book summaries. Crucial Conversations Summary On Blinkist

The idea of a book summary itself has some specific benefits and downsides. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t actually blame a specific company for them.

Let’s very first take a look at those, so we can much better identify the distinct benefits and drawbacks of Blinkist later on.

Pros of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll avoid all unnecessary info. This is specifically practical for books that only make one or a couple of assets. It also assists you avoid poor books entirely.
You can learn about more and various subjects quicker. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a few minutes. You can leap to the next mindfulness book or a new subject completely.
You’ll likely keep in mind more without taking notes. Since book summaries focus around facts and brief ways to show them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll keep in mind. It’s hard to correctly remember anything if you read a full book without taking notes.
Cons of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, since it makes checking out enjoyable. Depending upon just how much you get in touch with the story, it also helps you remember a lot, even if you might need to take notes.
You will lose out on big ideas and spontaneous insights from really terrific books. The very best books hit hard with every page. It’s difficult to transfer all of their understanding into a summary. Some books you just have to check out in full to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you may translate facts the wrong way. Sometimes, a summary specifies an idea one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. However because that context is now missing out on, you’re interpreting the concept differently and therefore get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now trusting not just the author of the book, but also whoever wrote the summary. You lose if the summary writer does a bad job. For instance, they may fail to consist of an essential story and so you won’t keep in mind a vital reality.

Once again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that supply them. So with those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?

Downloading the app is complimentary. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll get a short tutorial of how everything works.

Among the first things you’ll discover is that the app just has three tabs for you to select from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and discover new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your personal choice of books.
You. This is where your settings and saved highlights are.

This is brilliant, since it makes browsing the app and picking what to do really simple. Let’s look at the specific tabs.

Blinkist very heavily advertised at me, so I chose to try. Blinkist is an app that has lots of features, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original content, but the main selling point, the important things that they advertise, the important things that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they declare they can provide you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Basically, they are promoting themselves as an alternative to reading books or listening to complete audio books by, and I estimate here from their site: “Read or listen to the crucial concepts from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the concept is that you get their app, you register for it, and you can listen to as numerous books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they claim that you will still get the essential concepts and an understanding of what the book is about.

I was dubious, I am a reader and even though I don’t read much non-fiction, given that I much choose checking out fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw marketed on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just could not imagine being condensable into 15 minutes. Since we are talking about some really huge books, about heavy, complex concepts that I simply didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I’ve got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to set up that. Crucial Conversations Summary On Blinkist
