What is the Headway app? Instaread Summary Reviews

When evaluating a tool or service, many people immediately delve into what they like and do not like. That’s a mistake, especially when looking at one of many services in a specific category. In this case, book summaries. Instaread Summary Reviews

The idea of a book summary itself has some specific advantages and drawbacks. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t actually blame a particular business for them.

Let’s very first look at those, so we can better pinpoint the distinct pros and cons of Blinkist later.

Pros of reading book summaries:.
You’ll avoid all unneeded details. This is especially helpful for books that only make one or a couple of good points. It also assists you prevent bad books altogether.
You can learn more about more and different topics faster. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a few minutes. Then, you can leap to the next mindfulness book or a brand-new topic entirely.
You’ll likely remember more without remembering. Since book summaries focus around truths and brief methods to illustrate them, you’ll likely come away from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. It’s hard to properly memorize anything if you read a full book without taking notes.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose most of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, because it makes checking out fun. Depending on just how much you get in touch with the story, it likewise helps you keep in mind a lot, even if you might have to remember.
The best books strike hard with every page. Some books you simply have to read in full to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you might interpret realities the wrong way. In some cases, a summary specifies an idea one method, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. Since that context is now missing out on, you’re translating the concept in a different way and hence get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now trusting not simply the author of the book, but likewise whoever composed the summary. If the summary writer does a bad job, you lose. They might stop working to include an important story and so you will not remember a crucial reality.

Again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that supply them. With those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?

Downloading the app is free. When you open the app for the very first time, you’ll get a short tutorial of how everything works.

One of the first things you’ll discover is that the app only has three tabs for you to choose from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and find new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your personal selection of books.
You. This is where your settings and conserved highlights are.

This is fantastic, since it makes browsing the app and picking what to do actually simple. Let’s take a look at the specific tabs.

Blinkist extremely greatly advertised at me, so I chose to try. Blinkist is an app that has many functions, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original content, but the main selling point, the important things that they promote, the important things that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can provide you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Basically, they are marketing themselves as an alternative to checking out books or listening to full audio books by, and I price quote here from their website: “Listen or read to the crucial ideas from best-selling nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the idea is that you get their app, you register for it, and you can listen to as numerous books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the essential concepts and an understanding of what the book is about.

I was suspicious, I am a reader and even though I do not read much non-fiction, given that I much choose reading fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw advertised on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just could not picture being condensable into 15 minutes. Because we are talking about some really huge books, about heavy, intricate ideas that I just didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I have actually got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to set up that. Instaread Summary Reviews
