What is the Headway app? Therese Blinkist

When reviewing a tool or service, the majority of people instantly jump into what they like and don’t like. That’s an error, specifically when taking a look at among lots of services in a particular category. In this case, book summaries. Therese Blinkist

The idea of a book summary itself has some specific advantages and drawbacks. Naturally, these will move to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t actually blame a specific business for them.

Let’s first look at those, so we can better pinpoint the special advantages and disadvantages of Blinkist later on.

Pros of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unnecessary information. This is especially useful for books that just make one or a few good points. It also assists you prevent poor books altogether.
You can learn more about more and different topics much faster. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a few minutes. Then, you can jump to the next mindfulness book or a brand-new topic altogether.
You’ll likely remember more without taking notes. Given that book summaries center around realities and short ways to illustrate them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll keep in mind. If you read a full book without keeping in mind, it’s tough to appropriately remember anything.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, since it makes checking out enjoyable. Depending upon how much you connect with the story, it also helps you remember a lot, even if you may have to remember.
The best books strike hard with every page. Some books you simply have to read in complete to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you might interpret truths the wrong way. In some cases, a summary mentions an idea one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. But since that context is now missing out on, you’re analyzing the concept in a different way and hence get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now relying on not simply the author of the book, but likewise whoever wrote the summary. If the summary writer does a bad job, you lose. They might fail to consist of an important story and so you will not keep in mind a crucial truth.

Again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that offer them. With those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to utilize the Blinkist app?

Downloading the app is free. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll get a short tutorial of how everything works.

Among the first things you’ll see is that the app just has three tabs for you to choose from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and find new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your individual choice of books.
You. This is where your settings and saved highlights are.

This is fantastic, because it makes browsing the app and selecting what to do really easy. Let’s take a look at the private tabs.

Blinkist extremely greatly promoted at me, so I chose to give it a go. Blinkist is an app that has numerous functions, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original material, however the primary selling point, the thing that they market, the thing that makes them various from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can offer you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are marketing themselves as an alternative to reading books or listening to complete audio books by, and I price quote here from their site: “Listen or read to the essential concepts from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the idea is that you get their app, you sign up for it, and you can listen to as many books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the essential ideas and an understanding of what the book has to do with.

I was suspicious, I am a reader and even though I do not check out much non-fiction, because I much prefer checking out fiction, I do check out some of it, some of the books that I saw advertised on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I simply might not picture being condensable into 15 minutes. Since we are talking about some truly huge books, about heavy, complex principles that I simply didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I have actually got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to install that. Therese Blinkist
